HomeMy WebLinkAbout 14-68 Adopting Mill Levy for 2015RESOLUTION NO. 14-,(& A RESOLUTION LEVYING GENERAL PROPERTY TAXES FOR THE 2014 TAX YEAR, TO HELP DEFRAY THE COSTS OF GOVERNMENT FOR THE TOWN OF FIRESTONE, COLORADO FOR THE 2015 BUDGET YEAR. WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees of the Town of Firestone on December 105 2014 adopted the annual budget for the 2015 budget year in accordance with the Local Government Budget Law; and WHEREAS, a general property tax mill levy is necessary to defray the general expenses of Town government for the 2015 budget year; and WHEREAS, the 2014 valuation for assessment for the Town of Firestone as certified by the County Assessor is $137,099,290; and WHEREAS, the Town is exempt from the statutory property tax revenue limitation (5.5% limit) due to voter approval of Ballot Issue A at the April 2, 1996 regular municipal election; and WHEREAS, the Town is exempt from the fiscal year spending limitation imposed by Article X, Section 20 to the Colorado Constitution, due to voter approval of Ballot Issue A at the April 2, 1996, regular municipal election; and WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees must certify the mill levies for the 2015 budget year by December 15, 2014, and by this Resolution desires to so certify its general mill levy. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE TOWN OF FIRESTONE, COLORADO: Section 1. That for the purpose of meeting all general operating expenses of the Town of Firestone during the 2015 budget year, there is hereby levied a tax of 6.805 mills upon each dollar of the total valuation for assessment of all taxable property within the Town for the year 2014. Section 2. That the Director of Finance is hereby authorized and directed to immediately certify to the County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, the mill levy for the Town of Firestone as herein above determined and set. 1 INTRODUCED, READ, and ADOPTED this 10 day of December, 2014.
