HomeMy WebLinkAbout25-75 Calling for a Town Special Election to be Held in Nov 4, 2025 to Fill Vacancy of the Board of Trustees 07-09-2025RESOLUTION NO, 25-75 A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRIJSTEES OF THE TOWN CIF' FIRESTONE, COLORADO, CALLING FOR A I OWN SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 4, 2025 TO FILL A VACANCY ON THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES TO SERVE UNTIL THE NEX I REGULAR ELECTION WHEREAS, the eiovvn of Firestone (``Town") is a municipal corporation duly organized and operating as a statutory municipality under the Constitution and laves of the State of Colorado; and WHEREAS, the Town Board of'l (`Board'') member Linda Haney voluntarily resigned from her seat on the Town Board and elective office as a Town Board "Trustee effective May 14, 2025:, and WHEREAS, due to Trustee llaney's resignation, the Town Board adopted Resolution No. 2025-69 on May 28, 2025, declaring a vacancy on the °l"ovsn Board for a Trustee member seat for purposes of invoking the procedure to fill the vacant seat in accordance with applicable state law: and WHEREAS, C.R.S., § 31-4-303provides that the board has the power to lilt a vacancy in the board by ordering an election to fill the vacancy until the next regular election and until a successor has been elected and has complied with. C.R.S, § 31-4-401; and WHEREAS, the Town Board ofTrustecs desires to fill "Trustee Elaney's vacated seat by calling for a "l'own special election to be held on November 4, 2025, where the registered electors of the Town will elect one individual as i"rustee of the °Iowa Board to serve until the next regular election and until a successor has been elected and qualified. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE TOWN OF FIRESTONE, COLORADO: Section 1, Election Call. Pursuant to C.R.S. § 31-4-303, the l'own Board calls fora special election to be held on November 4, 2025, for the purposes set forth in this Resolution,which is also a designated coordinated election date. the November 4, 2025, Town special election shall be conducted as a mail ballot election, coordinated with Weld County, Colorado, in accordance with the Colorado Mail Ballot Election Act, CaR.S It 1-7.5-101 et seq, and all other applicable provisions of the Uniform Election Code. Section 2. Designated Election Official. The r"ovvn Clerk shall act as the Designated Election Offical ("E'<lection Official") for purposes of the election and the Election Official is directed to take all necessary steps to effectuate the provisions of thi Resolution, including without limitation, all compliance actions to establish the loan of the coordinated mail election ballot. Section 3. Actions by. Town Officers and Employ.
