Board of Trustees Action Items Wednesday, September 8, 2021 National Small Business Week In recognition of the importance of small businesses operating in the Town of Firestone, the Board of Trustees proclaimed next week, September 13-17, 2021, as Small Business Week. Thank you to all small businesses for choosing to operate your business in Firestone! The Board of Trustees encourages community members to use National Small Business Week to visit their favorite local small business or get to know a new one. Let the business owners know you appreciate that they are a vital part of the Firestone community. Stay tuned next week, as the Town will be sharing messages to help take a closer look at how small businesses in Firestone impact our local economy. Crack Fill Services Scope of Work Expanded During Wednesday night’s meeting, the Board of Trustees approved an amended Services Agreement with Vance Brothers, Inc. to expand their scope of work on the crack fill service project. On July 28, 2021, the Board of Trustees approved a General Services Agreement with Vance Brothers, Inc for crack fill services for Historic Firestone, St Vrain Ranch, and Ridgecrest. During the Board of Trustees meeting on August 11, 2021, staff communicated the need for additional crack fill services on Colorado Blvd and Sable Ave. Public Works staff have been in contact with Vance Brothers, Inc while the crack fill services were being completed in Historic Firestone, St. Vrain Ranch, and Ridgecrest. Town staff has worked with Vance to identify additional needs and to expand the overall scope of operations. The approved Change Order uses a combination of materials supplied by the Town and Vance Brothers to better complete the remaining area in the three subdivisions. Weld County 2021 Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan Approved During Wednesday night’s meeting, Merrie Leach Garner, the Emergency Management Coordinator at Carbon Valley Emergency Management Agency, provided an overview of Weld County’s 2021 Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan, that that the Board of Trustees then adopted. This plan is updated and reviewed by all agencies every 5 years. Having an approved plan improves eligibility for Federal and/or State funding for natural hazard prevention measures and recovery measures in the case of a natural disaster occurrence. The updated plan provides the County and municipalities with critical information about threats to their population and physical assets, vulnerabilities to multiple kinds of natural hazards, and key recommendations by which such concerns may be mitigated.
