HomeMy WebLinkAboutStatement from the Firestone Board of Trustees - 9/27/2021Statement from the Firestone Board of Trustees Early this week, the Town Clerk issued a Finding and Decision for the protest hearing held on September 20th. In short, the finding states that the evidence of disassembly was so preponderant in some cases, that they must be disqualified pursuant to State statute. Throughout this process, some have questioned the professionalism and integrity of the Town Clerk. Some have resorted to personal attacks, rather than respectful discourse about a difference of opinion. Many on the Board have also received hostile and threatening messages from an individual associated with the failed effort. It appears that to some, this has moved well beyond the democratic process and is now about personally attacking those with whom there is a difference of opinion. Today, we have instructed Town staff to respond to many recent claims that are simply untrue. In the near future, factual information will be released to address the questions that some have as a result of misleading assertions made in the recent past. The Board of Trustees is proud of the Town of Firestone. Now more than ever, and in the face of a global pandemic, Firestone is thriving. This Board will continue to focus on the desires of the community; a safe place to call home, a place families enjoy spending time together, and a place where they know their elected officials are planning for the continued success of Firestone well into the future.
