HomeMy WebLinkAboutBoard of Trustees Action Items - February 23 - 2/25/2022Board of Trustees Action Items Wednesday, February 23, 2022 STAR Award During Wednesday night's meeting, a STAR Award was presented to Sergeant Neal Lucero for his role in assisting the late, former Trustee George Heath while having a medical emergency. Mrs. Betty Heath (George's wife), Mayor Sindelar, and Trustee Sharp presented Sergeant Lucero with this award for exceeding expectations in the performance of his duties. Mrs. Heath wrote to the Board of Trustees to recognize Sergeant Lucero, not just for what he did as an officer that night, but for the humanity, compassion, and support he displayed following the loss of George a few months after this incident. Lucero Updated IT Services Contract The Board of Trustees approved an agreement with TimberLAN Small Businss Group, Inc. for professional Information Technology (I.T.) services for 2022, during Wednesday night's meeting. TimberLAN has served as the Town’s IT management consultant since 2007. In the 2022 adopted budget, there is $284,920 budgeted for TimberLAN’s scope of work. Town staff has been able to reduce that scope to $138,040, by hiring an IT Manager. The new agreement reflects these changes. With the reduced scope of work, and the addition of an IT Manager, the Town of Firestone expects to see a net savings of $50,000 and will be able to serve staff and elected officials much more efficiently. Comcast Franchise Agreement During Wednesday night’s meeting, the Board of Trustees approved a new 10-year non- exclusive franchise agreement with Comcast for the ability to continue offering cable television services within the Town of Firestone. Highlights of the agreement include requirements for placement of cable in rights-of-way, permit requirements, franchise fee payments to the Town, franchise fee reports, and grant funds for online access programming. Additionally, customer service standards have been updated to ensure subscribers receive the best possible service from Comcast.
