Currently, the Town's regulations do not provide an adequate way to regulate and control the location, design, size, and land use for such facilities consistent with the Town's water conservation and land development goals. There are currently two land use applications filed with the Town for car wash facilities; this moratorium will not impact those applications. During this moratorium, Town sta will closely examine the Town's land development regulations and look at emerging technologies related to water recycling in hopes of developing standards that will reflect the reality of having water-intensive users, like car washes, within the Town of Firestone. Parks, Trails, Recreation and Open Space Commission The Board of Trustees approved an ordinance to establish and update the bylaws of the Parks, Trails, Recreation and Open Space Commission. In 2001, the Town established a Parks, Trails and Recreation Advisory Board and the duties and procedures have not been significantly amended since that time. The Board of Trustees desired to update the procedures and ensure that this group could assist the Board of Trustees in evaluating current needs and issues regarding its parks, trails, open space, and recreation facilities. The Commission will consist of seven Town residents appointed by the Board of Trustees to serve for two-year terms. The Board of Trustees will also appoint a liaison and alternate liaison to the Commission from their members. View more about the duties of The Commission here. Information on how to apply will be shared through all of the Town's communication channels. Recruitment for Commission members will begin soon. Crosswalk Replacement Project During Wednesday night's meeting, the Board of Trustees approved an agreement with Road Safe Traic Systems, Inc to remove and replace crosswalks in The Shores and Mountain Shadows subdivisions. While this work is being done, some lane closures may be necessary, but traic should be able to travel through the neighbors without any major delays. The work is scheduled to begin soon and will be completed before the first day of school on August 16, 2023. CWCWD Settlement Agreement & Release Approved The Board of Trustees approved Resolution 23-79, approving the Settlement Agreement and Release between the Town and Central Weld County Water District (CWCWD). The agreement resolves all remaining issues between the Town and Central Weld County Water District (CWCWD) relating to the complaint filed by the Town on August 2, 2021 against CWCWD in Weld County District Court. This agreement comes aer mediation that led to the Sixth Addendum to the Water Service Agreement, which set the stage for future water service and cooperation between the Town and the District.
