HomeMy WebLinkAboutBoard of Trustees Action Items - September 27 - 9/29/2023Board of Trustees Action Items Wednesday, September 27, 2023 Agreement with Flock Safety Group During Wednesday night's meeting, the Board of Trustees approved a 5-year Agreement with Flock Safety Group to install Automatic License Plate Reader (ALPR) cameras within Town limits, subject to the annual appropriation of funds by the Board of Trustees. Flock Safety ALPRs are cameras strategically located within certain the community to automatically capture an image – not video – of the rear of a vehicle and the vehicle's license plate. These images are used for real-time alerts when stolen or wanted vehicles enter the Town of Firestone, as an investigative tool and as a deterrent to criminals. The camera locations are being finalized, and installation will begin in early 2024. History On August 23, 2023, the Police Department made a presentation to the Board of Trustees regarding the capabilities, benefits, and safeguards of the Flock ALPR cameras. On September 26, 2023, the Police Department hosted a community meeting to present the Flock (ALPR) camera system and give attendees an opportunity to learn about the technology, how it is proposed to be used within the Town of Firestone, potential locations for cameras, and more. Work Plan Adoption During the 2023 Board of Trustees Retreat, the Board was presented with a dra 2024-2025 Work Plan outlining current and future goals based on previous Board direction and the Board of Trustee Strategic Goals. Board members and sta worked together to revise the dra plan. Board members at the Retreat requested that the final version be brought before the entire Board at a future meeting for formal adoption. During the meeting on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, the Board of Trustees formally adopted the Work Plan. The Work Plan will provide sta with clear objectives, priorities, and timelines for upcoming projects and initiatives. View the adopted work plan here. 2024 Budget Presentation: Water Fund & Stormwater Fund The Board of Trustees began reviewing the 2024 proposed budget in a Work Session on Wednesday, September 20. During Wednesday night's meeting, the Board of Trustees reviewed the Water Fund and Stormwater Fund budgets. These events provide a great opportunity to speak with Firestoneʼs elected oicials, ask questions and discuss issues or concerns related to the Town of Firestone.
