The STAR (Special Thanks and Recognition) Award is an employee recognition program to award employees for demonstrating exceptional service and exceeding expectations in their work performance. John and Ivy collaborated extensively to ensure that the inaugural Friends of Firestone Day of Service, held on Saturday, September 23, was a success. As the face of the program, Firestone Neighborhood Service Oicer John Frahm posted flyers and went door-to-door to convey the spirit of the program. John reached out numerous times to participating residents and guided them through the process. Ivy Pitts worked behind the scenes, focusing on event day logistics. Ivy organized registration, ordered T-shirts, coordinated volunteer team locations, and coordinated food for volunteers. John and Ivy's dedication to the event resulted in: 121 volunteers in attendance 8 organized volunteer teams, including 42 Firestone employees, family, and friends 6 completed home projects And a minimum of 500 volunteer hours Congratulations to you both on a job well done! Property Room Audit Report Presentation Commander Brian Scott, from the Firestone Police Department, provided the Board of Trustees with a summary of the 2023 Audit and Inventory Report from the Property and Evidence Room during Wednesday night's meeting. In the Spring of 2023, the Firestone Police Department hired a firm to complete a top-to-bottom inventory and audit of the property and evidence room due to the Evidence Technician retiring. It is best practice to conduct a full inventory when evidence technician personnel leave, and a new employee is hired. This ensures the integrity of the room for all involved. The report included that there were no high or medium-priority level recommendations, and a few low-priority level recommendations were given, many of which have already been completed. The audit showed that all items listed as inventory in EvidenceOnQ are accounted for, and it was verified that all property located in the evidence room is listed in the EvidenceOnQ system. The auditor concluded his report by saying, "I can confidently say that the Firestone Police Department's evidence room is in a satisfactory state of control. The agency has made great strides and improvements from the last audit performed," and that "readers of this report should conclude that FPD's evidence room is an excellent example of a professional evidence room." I-25 & Firestone Boulevard Intersection Improvements During Wednesday night's meeting, the Board of Trustees approved an agreement with Bohannan Huston, Inc. (BHI) to design the I-25 Front Road and Firestone Boulevard Intersection Improvement Project. There is significant traic congestion and delays on Firestone Boulevard at the I-25 Interchange, which are made worse by alignment issues. While the interchange is ultimately CDOT's responsibility, Town sta has identified potential improvements on Firestone Boulevard that could help address some of the issues and believes it is in the Townʼs best interest to make these improvements. This design project would include widening the north side of the westbound lane to provide a new, dedicated northbound I-25 on-ramp lane between the East I-25 Frontage Rd and NB I-25. It would also include removing and replacing the westbound concrete median to provide an extended le turn lane to the southbound I-25 on-ramp through the intersection with the NB I- 25 on-ramp. View a map of the area with potential improvements listed here. BHI will be responsible for data collection, analyzing data, the design of the needed improvements and will work with CDOT on all reviews, approvals, and permitting. A Capital Improvement Project for constructing these improvements is being proposed in the 2024 Budget, subject to Board approval.
