HomeMy WebLinkAboutFirestone Police Introduces New Traffic Enforcement Plan - 11/13/2023Firestone Police Introduces New Traic Enforcement Plan Working Together to Promote Safer Roads This fall, the Firestone Police Department was awarded grant funding from CDOT to target speeding and distracted driving to reduce traic accidents along Firestone Blvd/Hwy 119, east and west of I-25. As a result of the continued growth in this region, traic crashes are consistently the most written report taken by the Firestone Police Department year aer year. Beginning Monday, November 13, the Firestone Police Department will begin targeted enforcement on Firestone Boulevard, near the I-25 Frontage Roads. This STEP (Strategic Traic Enforcement Plan) program will be ongoing over the next several months, with oicers dedicated to enforcing all traic violations in this area during various days and times. The goal of this eort is to promote safer roads and responsible driving and reduce the number of traic accidents in the defined area by 10% over the next 12 months.
