Police Department Awards During the Board of Trustees meeting on Wednesday, December 13 , 5 members of the Firestone Police Department were recognized during the Award Ceremony for their dedication to their profession and our community. The Board of Trustees congratulated these employees for these well-deserved recognitions and thanked them for their continued service to the community and dedication to their careers. th Medal of Valor: O icer Jesus Bustillos and O icer Michael Gunter & Certificate of Commendation: Sergeant Curt Bringle, O icer Jay Belue, and O icer Michael Ream In January 2023, Firestone police o icers responded to a call that involved a multi-jurisdictional response regarding a shots fired call. These o icers' quick, decisive, and lawful actions, along with other o icers on the scene, protected the community from injury to citizens and responding o icers, warranting the prestigious Medal of Valor and Certificate of Commendation. We want to thank and recognize the e orts of these o icers for keeping the Carbon Valley community safe. Life Saving Award: O icer Michael Ream and Sergeant Curt Bringle Sergeant Curt Bringle and O icer Michael Ream were awarded the Lifesaving Award for an incident in May 2023. Sergeant Bringle was dispatched to a medical call on a reported unconscious, not-breathing male. Sergeant Bringle arrived at the residence before EMS and began to assess the male's condition but was unable to find a pulse. Sergeant Bringle began CPR and was able to locate a pulse a short time later; however, the male's pulse stopped again, and Sergeant Bringle continued to perform CPR. O icer Ream quickly and accurately recognized that the male was possibly su ering from an Opiate based drug overdose. O icer Ream quickly retrieved his Narcan from his patrol vehicle, returned to the residence, and administered Narcan to the male. A er EMS arrived on the scene, the male began to breathe on his own and had a strong pulse. Sergeant Bringle and O icer Ream's actions warrant the issuance of the Lifesaving Award based upon their quick response, critical thinking, accurate assessment, and administration of Narcan, which ensured that the male was stabilized until EMS could arrive.
