HomeMy WebLinkAbout26-11 Approving and Adopting the Weld Count 2026 Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan 02-18-2026RESOLUTION NO. 26-11 A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE TOWN OF FIRESTONE, COLORADO, APPROVING AND ADOPTING THE WELD COUNTY 2026 MULTI -JURISDICTIONAL HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 21-94 adopted in 2021, the Board of Trustees adopted the Weld County 2021 Multi -Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan, which plan was reviewed by the Colorado Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management and approved by the Federal Emergency Management Agency ("FEMA"); and WHEREAS, the hazard mitigation plan is updated every five years, with the current version being the proposed Weld County 2026 Multi -Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan (the "Plan"); and WHEREAS, the Plan has been prepared in accordance with FEMA requirements set forth in 44 C.F.R. § 201.6; and WHEREAS, the Town of Firestone participated in the development of the Weld County 2026 Multi -Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan; and WHEREAS, the governing body of each participating jurisdiction must formally adopt the Plan by resolution in order for FEMA to grant final approval of the Plan; and WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees recognizes the threat that natural hazards pose to people and property within our community, and therefore desires to approve and to adopt such plan so that the goals and objectives of the plan can be pursued and accomplished. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE TOWN OF FIRESTONE, COLORADO: Section 1. The Board of Trustees hereby adopts the Weld County 2026 Multi - Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan, including the Town of Firestone annex and mitigation actions applicable to the Town, attached hereto as Exhibit A and incorporated herein by this reference, as an official plan of the Town of Firestone. Section 2. Upon adoption, the Plan shall supersede and replace the hazard mitigation plan previously adopted in 2021. Adoption of the Plan authorizes the Town to participate in the Plan for purposes of FEMA hazard mitigation program eligibility and does not constitute an appropriation of funds or a commitment to implement any specific mitigation project unless separately approved by the Board of Trustees. Section 3. The Mayor, Town Manager and Town Staff are hereby authorized and directed to take such other actions as are necessary to implement and carry out the actions in the Plan, subject to and consistent with budgetary and other measures adopted by the Town Board of Trustees.
