The certification finalizes the results from the Tuesday, April 2, 2024 Municipal Election. The Mayor and Trustees will take the oath of office during the April 24, 2024, Board of Trustees meeting. MAYORAL CANDIDATES (vote for 1) Drew Peterson - 933 Don Conyac - 1221 BOARD OF TRUSTEES CANDIDATES (vote for 3) Lorna Morton - 914 David Whelan - 686 John Damsma - 730 Linda J. Haney - 777 Steven Wostenberg - 239 Scott Franks - 274 Trent John - 552 Ray Byrd - 787 Bobby Matthews - 771 Total Ballots Cast: 2246 Recount Information Neither the Mayor nor Trustee race requires a mandatory recount. A clerk must conduct a mandatory recount when the difference between the highest number of votes cast in the election and the next highest number of votes cast in the election is less than or equal to one- half of 1% of the highest number of votes cast in the election (C.R.S. 31-10-1207). Determination of the need for a recount is not made until the canvass has been performed and the election results are deemed official. An interested party, including a candidate for the office, may request a recount at their expense. The interested party shall pay on demand the cost of the recount. These funds will be placed in escrow for payment of all expenses incurred in the recount. The request for a recount must be made to the Town Clerkʼs office by 5:00 p.m. today, Friday, April 12, 2024, and all funds must be received by Monday, April 15, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. For more information on this process, please contact the Town Clerk's office at 303-531-6264 or email townclerk@firestoneco.gov. If, after the recount, the result of the election is reversed in favor of the interested party that requested the recount or if the amended election count is such that a recount otherwise would have been required, the payment for expenses shall be refunded to the interested party who paid them.
