Fireworks in Firestone - Know the Law, Stay Safe - 6/27/2025
Fireworks in Firestone – Know the Law, Stay Safe! As we head into the holiday season, the Firestone Police Department and the Frederick-Firestone Fire Protection District (FFFPD) want to remind everyone that Colorado law prohibits fireworks that explode or leave the ground, except for permitted professional displays. Whatʼs Allowed? A good rule of thumb: if it stays on the ground and doesnʼt go “boom”, itʼs generally allowed. Examples of legal fireworks in Firestone include: Cylindrical or Cone Fountains Ground Spinners Dipped Sticks & Sparklers Trick Noise Makers (e.g. Snakes, Glow Worms) Toy Propellant Devices Pressed Pellets “Showers of sparks” up to 15 feet high Enforcement Firestone Police Department will be strictly enforcing fireworks laws during the holiday season. If youʼre caught with illegal fireworks, you could face a municipal court fine of up to $2,650. To report illegal fireworks: Call non-emergency dispatch at 720-652-4222 to speak with an officer. In an emergency, always call 9-1-1. Safety Reminders If you use permitted fireworks: Always dispose of used fireworks in a bucket of water or a nonflammable metal container Children under 16 should be supervised, and those under 5 should never handle sparklers Sparklers burn at 1,000°F+, always light one at a time at armʼs length, and wear gloves Leave It to the Pros!
