IAPE accreditation is widely recognized as the gold standard for property and evidence management, reflecting the highest level of professionalism, accountability, and adherence to best practices. The Firestone Police Department is only the third agency in Colorado to receive IAPE accreditation. This achievement is the result of a rigorous, year-long process that began in January 2025 and extended well beyond a simple compliance review. It included extensive policy and procedure analysis, an on-site assessment, and multiple rounds of follow-up reviews before final approval was granted. This accreditation represents a significant milestone for the department and is formally identified as an objective within our current Police Department Strategic Plan. It demonstrates our continued commitment to transparency, risk reduction, and excellence in evidence handling. The success of this effort is overwhelmingly attributable to our Property & Evidence Technician, Denise Mathews. From the outset, Denise took ownership of the process, demonstrated exceptional attention to detail, and maintained unwavering dedication to meeting IAPEʼs demanding standards. Her work was instrumental in achieving this outcome. To learn more about the Firestone Police Department, visit www.firestoneco.gov/police.
