Heath Community Scholarship: Hailey Pollard and Caleb Jack. Both students will receive $1,250 to go toward educational expenses this fall. Both students, who are graduating soon, have demonstrated academic excellence, participated in many extracurricular activities, completed community service hours, and even held part-time jobs. Congratulations to Hailey, Caleb, and all the graduates living in Firestone! STAR Award Presentation L-R: Mayor Conyac, Lauren Hopkins, Jade Murray Ross, Chris Morrison During Wednesday night's meeting, Jade Murray Ross and Lauren Hopkins were presented with a STAR Award. The STAR (Special Thanks and Recognition) Award is an employee recognition program that rewards employees for demonstrating exceptional customer service and exceeding expectations in their work performance. Jade and Lauren were recognized for their exceptional customer service during the Townʼs transition to a new online utility payment portal. They proactively anticipated challenges with the system change, provided extensive outreach and in-person assistance to residents, and partnered with multiple departments to host support opportunities. Their patience, professionalism, and resident-first approach helped ensure a smooth transition for the community and earned them high praise from residents. Stage 1 Drought Declared and Watering Restrictions in Place The Board of Trustees met in a Work Session on Wednesday, April 8, to discuss the drought conditions within the region. The Board supported introducing mandatory water restrictions to conserve the Townʼs water supply, which is largely dependent on the Colorado-Big Thompson Project. During Wednesday nightʼs meeting, the Board approved Resolution 26-34, declaring Stage 1 (moderate to severe) drought conditions and establishing mandatory water-use restrictions for Firestone's water customers. To reduce water usage, the resolution limits lawn and landscape watering based on address numbers: Even-numbered addresses may water on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Odd-numbered addresses may water on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Watering is recommended between 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 a.m. Similar restrictions apply to HOA-managed areas, parks, and open spaces, which may water only on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. The resolution also allows for temporary permits (waivers) for newly installed lawns after April 1, 2026. These permits are intended to support the successful establishment of new landscaping that requires more frequent watering than normally allowed. Approved permits must be visibly posted on the property so they can be easily verified by Town staff, preventing the property from being mistakenly flagged or reported for violating watering restrictions. The restrictions take effect on April 16, 2026, and remain in place until the end of the year, unless lifted by the Board or water conditions improve. View more information here. Note for Barefoot Lakes Residents: The Town of Firestone does not provide water to Barefoot Lakes residents; the Little Thompson Water District serves them. While we encourage all community members to reduce water consumption, each water provider will enact and enforce restrictions differently. Recruitment Firm Hired for Town Manager Recruitment At a Special Meeting held on March 25, 2026, the Board of Trustees conducted interviews with recruitment firms to assist with the Town Manager Recruitment process. Following the interviews, the Board deliberated on each firmʼs qualifications, experience, approach, and overall fit with the Townʼs needs. The Board identified KRW Associates as the firm best aligned with the Townʼs objectives and expectations for this recruitment process. During Wednesday nightʼs meeting, the Board of Trustees approved a contract with KRW Associates. During this process, KRW will partner with the Board to provide oversight and administration of the executive search process for a new Town Manager. Mountain Shadows Trail Project Contract During Wednesday nightʼs meeting, the Board of Trustees approved a contract with CMH Concrete Pumping, Inc. for the installation of a trail extension at Mountain Shadows Park, located within the Mountain Shadows subdivision. The existing trail at Mountain Shadows Park was constructed more than 15 years ago and currently ends at the parkʼs northern edge. This project will extend the trail to the west and south, creating a connection to the walkway along Waverley Avenue. The extension will provide residents with a continuous, clearly defined pathway to access the park while improving overall neighborhood connectivity. The new trail will be designed to meet ADA accessibility standards, ensuring safe and inclusive access for individuals of all abilities. This improvement will enhance the park's usability, strengthen community connections, and provide a durable, accessible walking route that will serve residents for years to come. Work on the trail is expected to begin soon and will take approximately 4 weeks.
