Update on Water Complaints - 2/27/2023
Update on Water Complaints Over the past few weeks, the Town of Firestone has received complaints and concerns from water customers on odor, taste, and color variances. When concerns are received, the Town actively responds and works with Central Weld County Water District (the Town’s water supplier) to determine why this is occurring. In January, the Central Weld County Water District (CWCWD) notified the Town that customers may notice a change in taste or odor due to a change of water source necessary for inspection and annual maintenance. In addition, last week, the Carter Lake Filter Plant, where the Town’s water is treated, notified CWCWD that the color concerns are related to the change of water source they were treating. The secondary source required more chlorine to treat the level of organic matter in the water. According to CWCWD, as of February 21, 2023, this secondary source is no longer being utilized. Customers should expect to see an improvement in color, taste, and odor soon.
