HomeMy WebLinkAbout24-14 Approving the Firestone Police Dept. application for DOLA GrantRESOLUTION NO.24-14 A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE TOWN OF FIRESTONE, COLORADO APPROVING THE FIRESTONE POLICE DEPARTMENTS APPLICATION FOR THE COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF LOCAL AFFAIRS PEACE OFFICERS BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SUPPORT AND COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS GRANT PROGRAM WHEREAS, in April 2022 the Town of Firestone ("Town") Town of Fredrick, and City of Dacono entered into an Agreement with North Range Behavioral Health ("North Range") to establish and operate a Co -Responder Program; and WHEREAS, the Town of Mead by a separate agreement is also receiving Co -Responder Services from North Range; and WHEREAS, the funding from the four entities only provides for the shared services of one fall -time Co -Responder who is not on duty during the weekends and given the nature of the services the entities Police Chiefs desire that a Co -Responder to be available seven days a week; and WHEREAS, North Range's Clinic Network Director agrees with the Police Chiefs that there is a need for another Co -Responder to ensure that services are available seven days a week; and WHEREAS, to obtain the necessary funds for such services the Town's Police Department desires to apply for grant funds for two years totaling $229,148 from the Colorado Department of Local Affairs ("DOLA") Peace Officers Behavioral Health Support and Community Partnerships Grant Program; and WHEREAS, as a condition of submittal of the application DOLA requires that the applicants governing body support submittal of the grant application; and WHEREAS, the Town's Police Department requests that the Board of Trustees support its submittal of the Grant Application. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE TOWN OF FIRESTONE, COLORADO: The Board of Trustees of the Town of Firestone finding that such is of benefit to the public's health safety and welfare approves the Town's Police Department's submittal of the Colorado Department of Local Affairs Peace Officers Behavioral Health Support and Community Partnerships Grant Program to obtain funding to ensure full time Co -Responder Services for those within the municipalities of Firestone, Frederick, Dacono and Mead.
