This Year’s 4th at Firestone Will Offer a Full Day and Night of Food, Fun and Fireworks
The Town of Firestone is putting finishing touches on plans for the 16th annual 4th at Firestone, and it promises
to be an event to remember. This year’s celebration will include a full slate of activities for all ages and
interests, capped off with fireworks at Central Park, located at Colorado Boulevard and Sable Avenue.
A true community celebration, the day will begin at 7 a.m. with a pancake breakfast hosted by the American
Legion Auxiliary, 870 1st St., followed by the Firecracker 5K race at 7:30 a.m., which is organized by the Carbon
Valley Parks & Recreation District. The Firecracker 5K will start and end at the Carbon Valley Regional Library, 7
Park Ave.
The annual July 4th parade, one of the area’s largest and most dynamic, will follow at 10 a.m. with patriotic-
themed floats, marching bands, classic cars, motorcycles, community groups and more. The parade will begin
in downtown Frederick and make its way through Historic Firestone to Miners Park, where a family-friendly
festival with food and specialty items for sale, free snow cones, live music and games will run until 4:30 p.m.
Other highlights at Miners Park, 170 Grant Ave., will include a noon flag ceremony and recognition of veterans,
conducted by the Frederick-Firestone Fire Protection District Color Guard, as well as a climbing wall, a bungee
trampoline, face painting, pony rides and a petting zoo. The “Show and Shine” car show will be under way
nearby at Midas, 8100 Colorado Blvd.
The day will end with a fireworks show at 9:30 p.m. at Central Park. Fireworks parking will open at 7 p.m., and
people are welcome to bring blankets, picnics and games to enjoy while they wait.
