Firestone Board of Trustees Accepts Town Manager Resignation
Will Discuss Recruitment for Interim and Permanent Town Manager on April 11
Thursday, March 29, 2018 – Firestone, Colo. – The Firestone Board of Trustees last night
accepted the resignation of Town Manager Bruce Nickerson and slated the Board’s April 11
meeting to discuss recruitment of an interim and permanent Town Manager. The Board will
also discuss the Planning Director role, which is currently included in the Town Manager’s
responsibilities. Nickerson’s resignation is effective April 6, and he is on paid leave until then.
Mayor Paul Sorensen thanked Nickerson for his 23 years of service to the community and cited
his leadership in planning and economic development programs benefiting Firestone. Nickerson
served as the Town Planner, and later as the Town Manager since November 2016.
Sorensen and the Board highlighted Nickerson’s contributions in helping bring key businesses to
Firestone; development of the Firestone Trail, the Firestone Sports Complex, and community
parks; improvement of one of the community’s primary entrances at Firestone Boulevard and
Colorado Boulevard; and oversight of Firestone’s comprehensive master land use plan.
The April 11 Board of Trustees meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at Firestone Town Hall, 151 Grant
Ave., in Firestone.
