HomeMy WebLinkAboutBoard of Trustees Action Items - August 26 - 8/28/2020Board of Trustees Action Items Wednesday, August 26, 2020 Mayor’s Award During Wednesday night’s meeting, Mayor Sindelar presented the Mayor’s Award to Romaine Lowe. In March, Mayor Sindelar asked the community to send her nominations for the Mayor’s Award to recognize a group or individual who went above and beyond and made a positive impact on our citizens during this unprecedented time we are in. Romaine Lowe was nominated for her commitment and dedication to the youth in our community. Romaine has been a Firestone resident for around 20 years and has been an advocate for all programs that benefit the children and young adults of our community. Most recently she has volunteered on Frederick High School’s Booster Club and has served as President for a number of years. She and her board and volunteers have developed many successful programs to support Frederick High School’s students and faculty. A special thank you to all who have served and supported FHS students and activities. Earlier this summer, Romaine recognized that the graduating class of 2020 was not able to have their traditional graduation ceremony in May, so she spearheaded the Senior Parade. What a special memory for those students and their families! Mayor Sindelar recognized and thanked Romaine, for her commitment and dedication to the Firestone community. Cottonwood Hollow Filing 4 Preliminary Development Plan After a Public Hearing, the Board of Trustees approved a resolution approving a Preliminary Subdivision Plat and Preliminary Development Plan (PDP) for Filing 4 within the Cottonwood Hollow Subdivision. The approximate location of Cottonwood Hollow Filing 4 is west of the intersection of Birch Street and Sable Avenue, and adjacent to Sable Avenue to the south. The project concept for Cottonwood Hollow Filing 4 Preliminary Development Plan (PDP) is to provide an attractive living and working environment using the innovative placement and design techniques that respond to the site’s natural features. The preliminary plat shows how the property will be subdivided into 179 single-family lots, tracts (including open space, parks, utilities, access, drainage, landscape, oil and gas facilities, and irrigation ditches), rights-of-way, and will show the location of easements. The preliminary plat and the PDP propose two vehicular access points from Sable Avenue to the north. All homes within the development shall provide a minimum of two-car attached garages, and parking on the residential streets will be available. Parking is consistent with other similar developments in Firestone, and sidewalks will line the residential streets. The PDP and Preliminary Plat are required steps in the Firestone Development Review process prior to the Final Plat process. Final Development Plan for Dollar General After a separate Public Hearing, the Board of Trustees approved a Final Development Plan (FDP) for Dollar General in the Oak Meadows Village commercial area which is northeast of the intersection of Firestone Boulevard and Colorado Boulevard. The FPD includes a 9,100 square foot commercial retail facility with building materials that are compatible and consistent with the materials used on other commercial buildings in the area. There will be 32 parking spaces, including 2 ADA compliant stalls and will include perimeter and parking lot landscaping. Additionally, the FDP is consistent with the Oak Meadows Village Overall Final Development Plan (OFDP), which was approved in 2006. The FDP process is the final step in the Firestone Development Review process prior to the building permit process.
