The area approved to be annexed is approximately 0.69 acres, located immediately north of the intersection of Turner Blvd and SH 119, near I-25. The existing building is in the process of being removed and the Town is working with the property owner to re-configured the site for future commercial development. Master Plan Project for Central Park At the end of 2020, the Board of Trustees approved an agreement with Design Workshop to prepare a Central Park Master Plan. Next Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at the Board of Trustees Work Session, the public is invited to the first meeting for this effort. The initial discussion will concentrate on the schedule of the plan and the team's expectations. Background: Since acquiring the land in 2005, the Town of Firestone has anticipated Central Park's development. While some conceptual plans have been developed at various times, the project has never had a true design effort that could lead to construction. After the Park, Open Space, and Trails Master Plan effort, the Board of Trustees identified Central Park as the #1 priority. The Town is moving forward with an actual design effort aimed at beginning construction in 2022. Updates on this project and important dates will be posted at www.firestoneco.gov/CentralPark, and shared with the public through various outlets. Firestone Board Seeks Volunteers for the Planning & Zoning Commission The Board of Trustees is looking for volunteers to serve on the Planning & Zoning Commission. Serving the Town is an excellent way to become active in the decision- making process of Town government and give back to your community. The Planning & Zoning Commission is a seven-member commission that recommends various development matters to the Board of Trustees for consideration. The Commission members also serve as the Board of Adjustments. All volunteers must be residents of the Town, and anyone who wishes to serve for final decision-making boards cannot have a financial interest in a contract with the Town. Those who are interested in volunteering must complete an application online here. Applications are due on February 1, 2020. The Board of Trustees will review candidate applications and, upon approval, will formally appoint individuals at a regularly scheduled Town Board meeting.
