HomeMy WebLinkAboutSignificant Winter Storm Possible this Weekend - 3/10/2021Significant Winter Storm Possible this Weekend According to the National Weather Service (NWS), a significant winter storm is possible to impact the Front Range this weekend beginning sometime on Friday, March 12th. According to the NWS, there continues to be some uncertainty about the storm, but that we should all be prepared for a major event. In anticipation of this storm, the Town of Firestone will close its offices early on Friday. If you have any Town business that you need to complete in-person this week, we encourage you to come in before Friday. Snow Removal Plan The Town of Firestone would like to ensure residents that the Department of Public Works is ready with a snow control plan to keep streets, trails and public areas safe and accessible during periods of snow and ice. For more information on snow removal operations and to view the snow route map, visit www.firestoneco.gov/snow. Reminders & Resources Move Vehicles from Snow Routes: Help the Town in its snow removal operations by moving vehicles from priority snow routes. Give Snow Plows Plenty of Room to Work: The Firestone Public Works snow plow team will work efficiently to clear roadways of snow for safe passage. If you meet a snowplow on the roads, please use caution and maintain a safe distance between your vehicle and the plow. Snow Buddies: If you're age 60+ and are unable to shovel your driveway and sidewalks after a snowstorm, the Carbon Valley Parks & Recreation District has a Snow Buddies program that will find a community volunteer to shovel for you. This program is always looking for volunteers to help. Find more information about the program here. Carbon Valley Emergency Management Agency: The CVEMA will be open virtually at a heightened awareness level. Should you, or someone you know, need sheltering assistance or access to other resources due to the storm, they will be able to provide assistance.
