A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE TOWN OF
FIRESTONE COLORADO, APPROVING AN AMENDMENT TO THE
INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE TOWN OF
FIRESTONE AND ST VRAIN VALLEY SCHOOL DISTRICT RE-1J
REGARDING A JOINT SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the Town of Firestone ("Firestone") and the community are
significantly impacted by the demands placed upon them to address incidents and situations
directly or indirectly related to juveniles and schools; and
WHEREAS, the problems of delinquency, alcohol, substance abuse, and other
youth related problems which negatively affect the community and the schools can best be
addressed in a proactive and preventive manner; and
WHEREAS, to address these concerns in 2021 the Town of Firestone and St. Vrain
School District RE-IJ established a School Resource Officer Program for its schools
located within Firestone which provides a school -based approach to establish a positive
relationship between students and law enforcement and the prevention of delinquency,
alcohol and substance abuse, and other issues by the community's youth; and
WHEREAS, the Parties desire to continue the School Resource Officer Program
Officer Program for the 202-2023 school year.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
THE TOWN OF FIRESTONE, COLORADO THAT:
The 2022-2023 Amendment to the Intergovernmental Agreement between the
Town of Firestone and the St. Vrain Valley School District RE-1J to continue the School
Resource Officer Program is approved in substantially the same form as the copy attached
hereto and made a part of this resolution and the Mayor is authorized to execute the
Amendment on behalf of the Town.

2022-23 Amendment to Intergovernmental Agreement
between the
Town of Firestone
and
St. Vrain Valley School District REAJ
for a
Joint School Resource Officer Program
THIS 2022-23 AMENDMENT to the Intergovernmental Agreement Between the Town of
Firestone and St. Vrain Valley School District RE-1J for a Joint School Resource Officer Program
(this "2022-23 Amendment') is made by and between the Town of Firestone (the "Governmental
Unit'), and the St. Vrain Valley School District REAJ (the "School District').
RECITALS
WHEREAS, on or about September 8, 2021, the Governmental Unit and the School
District entered into an Intergovernmental Agreement Between the Town of Firestone and St.
Vrain Valley School District RE-1J for a Joint School Resource Officer Program (the "Original
Agreement'); and
WHEREAS, the Original Agreement has a one-year term that expired on June 30, 2022;
and
WHEREAS, Section III of the Original Agreement sets forth that, "This Agreement may be
renewed each year for one additional year upon written certification by each party that funds
sufficient to pay the respective expenses of the Governmental Unit and the School District for any
additional year have been authorized by the Governmental Unit and the School District
respectively'; and
WHEREAS, Section III of the Original Agreement also sets forth that, "The respective
costs for the Governmental Unit and the School District for each school year will be detailed in a
new Exhibit A for each additional school year; and
WHEREAS, the parties desire to renew the Original Agreement for an additional year.
AGREEMENT
NOW, THEREFORE, FOR AND IN CONSIDERATION OF THE covenants and
agreements below appearing, the parties agree as follows:
1. Each party hereby certifies to the other that funds sufficient to pay the respective expenses
of the Governmental Unit and the School District for an additional year have been
authorized by the Governmental Unit and the School District, respectively.
2. The first sentence of Section III of the Original Agreement is hereby amended as follows:
"The terra of this Agreement shall be July 1, 2022, through June 30,
2023."
3. Exhibit A of the Original Agreement is hereby replaced in its entirety with Exhibit A
attached hereto and incorporated herein by this reference.

EXHIBIT A
Adopted Budget
1. School Year
This document is an exhibit to the INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN
THE TOWN OF FIRESTONE AND THE ST. VRAIN VALLEY SCHOOL DISTRICT RE-
11 FOR A JOINT SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER PROGRAM and applies to the fiscal
year July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023.
2. School Sites
School District school sites involved in the School Resource Officer Program shall be determined
prior to the start of each school calendar (August -May) and should include School Resource
Officer ("SRO") staffing expectations. School sites chosen for the 2022-23 school year are:
Prairie Ridge Elementary 11 SRO
Centennial Elementary
Coal Ridge Middle School
SRO support upon request at Middle/Elementary schools.
3. Compensation by School Year
a. 2022-23 School Year. For the 2022-23 school year, School District shall pay to
the Governmental Unit the below listed costs as its portion of the 2022 -2023
salaries of the SRO for the schools identified in paragraph B above:
1 SRO at 50% of 9 months 2022-2023 salary —
$35,943.00
Annual Salary = $95,848.00
Total Payment for 2022-2023 school year =
$35,943.00
Extra Duty Pay. Salary costs for the School Resource Officer to perform extra duty
services for a fimction will be covered by the appropriate Governmental Unit police
or sheriffs office. For school -related functions (i.e., sporting events, prom,
graduation, etc.) extra duty must be approved by the principal of the school
requesting extra duty assignments. For extra duty assignments that extend the
School Resource Officer's normal duties, there must be prior approval from the
School District Superintendent's office. For each additional officer requested by
the School District for extra duty coverage, the parties must first execute the
Agreement For Special Detail Assignment Peace Officers in substantially the same
form as the copy attached hereto and made a part of this Exhibit A. Tn accordance
with such Agreement the School District will remit to the Governmental Unit a sum
equal to $59.28 per hour of the assignment for each officer.
